The local business community is vital to the Village of Gurnee. Thanks to local sales tax and user-generated revenue, residents enjoy Village amenities without paying a Village property tax. The Village Board and Administration value the contributions of small businesses and have allocated funds to support eligible businesses.
In 2021, the Village of Gurnee launched the Small Business Capital Investment Grant Program to support small business growth through capital investments. Qualifying applicants could receive up to $10,000 in 1:1 matching funds for capital projects, subject to funding availability.
In January 2023, the Village Board expanded the Grant Program, allowing business and building owners to reapply for a different project and enabling hotels to participate in the reimbursable grant program.
Transformational Grant
- Eligible applicants may apply annually for a 1:1 matching grant of up to $50,000 for capital projects not yet in the permitting process, with a minimum investment of $100,000. A committee will review all applications and select two proposed projects for funding each year.
Impact Grant
- The Village of Gurnee offers the Impact Grant to help local businesses fund permanent capital improvements through a 1:1 matching reimbursement of up to $20,000 per eligible business.
