Most construction, remodeling, and improvement projects require a building permit before work begins. Building permits help ensure that projects comply with applicable building codes and safety standards through plan review and inspections conducted by the Building Safety Division.

Obtaining the required permits helps protect property owners, promotes safe construction practices, and can help prevent issues during future property sales, insurance claims, or financing transactions.
