2026 Village Construction Map

The Village of Gurnee is committed to maintaining and improving the community's infrastructure through a variety of construction and improvement projects. Many of these projects are overseen by the Village as a part of its Multi-Year Capital Improvement Program, while others are managed by the Lake County Department of Transportation (LCDOT) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). 2026 Construction Projects

Project Description:

The Village's contractor, Payne and Dolan, Inc. will be resurfacing 3.3 miles of roadway and completing pavement patching and curb and sidewalk repairs. Please reference the maps below to view which streets will be resurfaced.

Project Updates:

  • Update May 27, 2026: Payne & Dolan has completed curb and sidewalk repairs and started milling operations. Within Zone 3 they have started with curb and sidewalk removal and replacement operations.

Project Description:

The Village's contractor, Lake County Grading, will be reconstructing Fuller Rd. from Stearns School Rd. to IL Rte. 132. Additionally, drainage and sidewalk improvements will take place.



Project Updates:

Update May 27, 2026: Lake County Grading was the low bidder for the Fuller Road Reconstruction project. The contractor anticipates beginning construction in June 1, weather permitting.

Project Description:

The Village's contractor, Everlast Blacktop, will be replacing the water main, hydrants and valve vaults on Blackstone Ave., Estes St., Woodlawn Ave., Dorchester Ave., Gould St., Ellis Ave., Ferndale St. and Drexel Ave. Once completed, the roads will be resurfaced. Lane and driveway closures as well as temporary water main shutdowns should be expected.

Update May 27, 2026: Everlast Blacktop has begun construction activities on Drexel and Ferndale with JULIE locates and directional drilling for water main installation.

Project Description:

The Village’s contractor, Schroeder & Schroeder Inc., will be working on sidewalk replacements in the general area of Hunt Club Rd. to I-94 and Grand Ave. to Rte. 120 as well as including neighborhoods south of Washington St. and east of I-94. The contractor will be providing door hangers to residents who will lose access to their driveways prior to the work beginning. This project will have minor impacts such as temporary lane and sidewalk closures.

Project Updates

Update May 27, 2026: The 2026 Sidewalk Replacement Project was awarded to Schroeder & Schroeder. Limits of sidewalk improvements have been marked with paint and the contractor has begun work this week.

Project Description:

Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be installing new sidewalk on the south side of Washington St., starting at Almond Rd. and working their way west towards Rte. 45. There will be traffic delays and lane closures.

  • Update May 13, 2026: The contractor has completed the south side sidewalk along Washington Street and will begin drainage improvements along the north side of Washington Street for the pedestrian path.

Project Description:

The Village’s Contractor will be extending the sidewalk northward along IL Rte. 21 from the Cobble Creek Subdivision towards Gages Lake and Rte. 21 intersection and adding a pedestrian crosswalk across Rte. 21. There will be traffic delays and lane closures.

Project Updates:

  • Update May 13, 2026: The Engineering Division is currently awaiting IDOT approval of the final plans. Once approval is received, staff will proceed with advertising the project for bidding.

  • Location: Intersection of Hunt Club Road and Washington Street
  • Project Cost: $16.3 million

Project Description:

LCDOT will be expanding the intersection at Hunt Club Rd. and Washington St. They will be adding dedicated left and right turn lanes for all four legs of the intersection as well as installing a pedestrian path that will tie the existing Washington St. path to the Village’s path, north to Dada Dr. There will be traffic delays and lane closures.

  • Update May 27, 2026: The contractor will continue to work on the installation of the center medians along Washington Street and the permanent traffic signal lights.
