Village Construction Projects

The Community Development Department guides the Village's growth and development while ensuring that buildings, infrastructure, and properties remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The Department works closely with residents, business owners, contractors, developers, and elected officials to provide responsive service and support a high quality of life throughout the community.

Community Development consists of four divisions:

  • Building Safety Division
    Oversees building construction, permitting, inspections, and code enforcement to ensure compliance with applicable building and safety standards.     
    Services include: Building permits, building inspections, site plan review.

  • Engineering Division:
    Plans, designs and manages the Village's public infrastructure projects and systems, including streets, drainage facilities, water & sewer lines, stormwater systems, and flood mitigation.
    Services include: Capital improvement projects, transportation planning, sidewalk and bike path construction, traffic signals, GIS mapping, surveying, and utility infrastructure. 

  • Planning & Zoning Division
    Guides the growth and development of the ViIlage through long-range planning, development review, and administration of zoning regulations.
    Services include: Annexations, development review, planned unit developments (PUDs), special use permits, variations, zoning amendments, land use planning, and zoning inquiries.

  • Property Maintenance Division
    Protects the safety, character, and appearance of neighborhoods by enforcing property maintenance, nuisance, and sign regulations.
    Services include: Property maintenance inspections, code enforcement, nuisance complaints, and sign ordinance enforcement.
