Setbacks are the minimum required distance between a property line and a building or other structure. Setback requirements vary by property and zoning district and depend on the applicable zoning regulations, annexation agreement, planned unit development (PUD) agreement, or special use permit.

The Village's Zoning Ordinance regulates the parking and storage of recreational vehicles (RVs) and utility/haul trailers on residential properties. Requirements address:

  • The maximum number of RVs or utility/haul trailers permitted based on lot size and property type.
  • Where they may be parked or stored.
  • The type of surface on which they may be parked.
  • Registration, ownership, and operability requirements.
  • Restrictions on occupancy and use by overnight guests.

Open terraces and unenclosed porches may extend up to four (4) feet into a required front or side yard setback and up to 10 feet into a required rear yard setback.  (*Amended April 16, 1990, Ord. No. 90-43)
