You can request a copy of a traffic crash report online, in person or by mail. Choose the option that works best for you.

Online (BuyCrash.com)

Crash reports are available 24 hours a day through the online provider BuyCrash.

Use the BuyCrash portal and follow these steps:

  1. Go to BuyCrash.com

  2. Select Illinois

  3. Select the law enforcement agency that took your report

  4. Enter your search information

  5. Complete the “I’m not a robot” check

  6. Add the report to your cart and proceed to checkout

  7. Enter your payment information

  8. Download your crash report

BuyCrash charges a small convenience fee. If you prefer not to pay this fee, you may pick up your report at the police station during business hours.

In Person

Crash reports are available for pickup at the Gurnee Police Station:

Monday–Friday, 8am - 4pm

By Mail

If you cannot come to the station, you may request a report by mail.

Send a self‑addressed stamped envelope to:

Include:

  • Name of the driver

  • Date of the accident

  • Location of the accident

  • Case number and accident number

Requests take 3 to 5 business days to process. A minimum $5 fee applies.
