Outrun the Cops is an annual 5K run, 10K run, and walk event in Gurnee, Illinois, that challenges participants to complete the course before being caught by local law enforcement.
Starting and ending at the Gurnee Police Department (100 N. O'Plaine Road), the race features friendly police officers lining up at the very back to playfully "chase" runners and walkers down the Des Plaines River Trail. Organized as a collaborative fundraiser by the Gurnee Fraternal Order of Police Social Lodge #266 and the Village of Gurnee, the family-friendly event includes themed "cops and robbers" costumes, a "Touch-a-Truck" area for kids, and donut-shaped finisher medals, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center.
For registration, fee schedules, and race day details, you can visit the official Outrun the Cops RunSignup Page or look for community announcements on the Gurnee FOP Facebook Page.
