Village Hall, 325 N. O'Plaine Rd., Gurnee, IL
The Village of Gurnee, in coordination with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), hosts an annual Pumpkin Composting collection at the Gurnee Village Hall to encourage seasonal eco-friendly waste management. Residents are invited to drop off their post-holiday jack-o'-lanterns, gourds, and haybales into dedicated organic waste dumpsters.
Please remove all inorganic materials, such as candles, wax, yarn, and other decorations before dropping off. The collected seasonal debris is then transported to a local facility where it is converted into nutrient-rich commercial fertilizer, effectively diverting tons of heavy organic material away from landfills and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
